The Cardiff branch of the WSPU was formed in Cardiff in 1906 by a woman named Mrs Keating Hill. She was involved in lots of millitant activity and was eventually imprisoned. The Cardiff branch travelled to London on the train in 1908 to join in the Hyde Park protests where 300,000 Suffragettes protested.
Lots of members from the Cardiff branch of the WSPU left to join the Women's Freedom League, including their founder Mrs Keating Hill. Mrs Millicent Mackenzie, wife of the proffesor of philosophy at Cardiff University, was the Vice President of the Cardiff Branch and was well known locally.
